Motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrians may prove fatal

A pedestrian's life was sadly cut short in a motor vehicle collision in Kentucky. The accident took place shortly before 6:50 p.m. on U.S. Highway 27. These types of motor vehicle accidents can easily happen due to the carelessness of a driver, in which case the driver may be held liable for any injuries or accidents that occur as a result of the accident.

The recent pedestrian accident in Kentucky occurred on New Year's Eve. Authorities reported that a pickup truck was traveling along the highway. All of a sudden, the truck hit the pedestrian, who was walking along the highway and another road.

The pickup truck ended up hitting the pedestrian from behind, as both the driver and the pedestrian were going south on the highway. Unfortunately, the pedestrian passed away in the crash. The driver did not appear to suffer any injuries in the collision.

If a police investigation reveals that the driver's negligence caused the pedestrian's death, the surviving family members of the pedestrian may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the truck driver, seeking damages. Liability must be established before the civil court hearing the case. Only then will claims for financial damages be determined.

Monetary damages from a successfully fought claim may assist in addressing burial costs. It may also help to provide support for surviving dependents and cover other losses stemming from these types of motor vehicle accidents. No amount of money can undo the events leading to the fatal accident, but it may help the pedestrian's surviving family members to more easily move forward from the crash.
