Mt. Sterling, Ky. – On July 18, 2022, lifelong Montgomery County resident Kyle Workman was struck head-on by a speeding, intoxicated driver. Following the crash, the 19-year-old was swiftly transported to CHI Saint Joseph Health in Mt. Sterling, where medical evaluations revealed he had suffered a dislocated and fractured left shoulder, requiring surgery, and resulting in permanent deficits. His own auto insurance company, Kentucky Farm Bureau, initially offered Workman a $15,000 settlement before the litigation process began.
Over the past two days, the trial team from Hicks & Funfsinn—including Attorneys Josh Hicks, Greg Funfsinn, Langdon Worley, and Litigation Paralegal Kim Davis—fearlessly advocated for justice on behalf of Workman. After extensive deliberation and 781 days since Workman’s collision, the jury awarded him a total of $248,737.65. The jury award is more than 16 times the original settlement offer by KFB. This verdict highlights the firm’s commitment to securing fair compensation for those affected by negligence. At trial, Kyle Workman’s fishing coach memorably said, “There’s no quit in Kyle.” That proved true not only of that brave young man but Hicks & Funfsinn’s trial team as well.
