Motor vehicle accidents involving charter buses can be fatal

An individual has passed away and several others have been injured in a tragic car crash in Kentucky. The accident, which took place on a Thursday, involved a charter bus and a smaller motor vehicle. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents occur due to a person’s negligence, which is grounds for litigation.

The accident took place early in the morning along Interstate 65 South. According to authorities, the smaller motor vehicle was going north in the highway’s southbound lanes. This motor vehicle then collided with the bus.

The individual driving the smaller motor vehicle ended up passing away. Meanwhile, the driver of the bus suffered serious injuries. Thirty-nine bus passengers also suffered injuries deemed not to be life-threatening. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the accident.

The injured parties may decide to file personal injury claims related to the car accident, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages. Even though the alleged wrong-way driver who caused the accident ended up passing away in the crash, this person’s estate may still be sued. In addition, anyone else with an ownership interest in the smaller motor vehicle may be sued.

A successfully fought lawsuit may yield financial damages that might help with covering hospital bills, the loss of wages and other expenses associated with these types of motor vehicle accidents. Monetary damages may also help with addressing pain and suffering caused by the collision. No amount of damages can undo the events leading to these types of crashes in Kentucky, but it may help the plaintiffs to more easily move forward from them.
