One person’s life was recently snuffed out in a tragic car crash in Kentucky. In addition, three other people suffered injuries in the Sunday night car wreck. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents occur as a result of a driver’s carelessness, which is grounds for litigation.
The recent Kentucky accident occurred at a little before 9:45 p.m. along the AA Highway. Authorities said a car carrying three individuals attempted to turn left onto the expressway. However, it reportedly ended up pulling in front of another motor vehicle — specifically, a cargo van. Police said the van thus hit the left side of the car.
The person driving the car passed away in the collision. Meanwhile, two other people in the car suffered injuries and were transported to a medical center. One of the two surviving passengers suffered injuries deemed to be life-threatening, whereas the other one suffered serious injuries. The cargo van driver also suffered injuries, although the injuries were considered not to be life-threatening. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash.
The individuals who suffered injuries in the car crash may decide to file personal injury claims against the estate of the deceased car driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained. Anyone else with an ownership interest in the car may also be named in the personal injury lawsuit. Competent proof of negligence is required to establish liability in such a court case. Only then will a judge decide claims for damages, which — if awarded — may help to cover hospital bills and other expenses tied to these types of auto accidents.
