Motor vehicle accidents may lead to serious injuries

Four people have sadly suffered injuries in a head-on car collision in Kentucky. The crash occurred during the early morning hours of a recent Wednesday. These types of motor vehicle accidents can easily happen due to the carelessness of a driver, in which case the driver may be held liable in civil court for any injuries resulting from the crash he or she caused.

The accident took place at 7:15 a.m. According to police, a woman was operating a car and suddenly struck an icy patch on the road. At that time, she reportedly struck a van carrying two children and an adult.

Authorities reported that the woman who allegedly caused the head-on crash suffered injuries deemed life-threatening and was transported to the hospital. The two children and adult in the van also suffered injuries, although their injuries were considered not to be life-threatening. However, they were transported to a medical center as well.

If police determine that the crash was the result of the woman’s negligence behind the wheel — for instance, she was driving too quickly for weather conditions — the three people injured in the van may decide to file personal injury claims against the woman, seeking damages. Liability must be established before the civil court hearing the case, based upon a showing of negligence, before damage claims will be decided. A successfully fought personal injury claim in Kentucky may lead to a monetary award that might help with covering hospital bills and other costs linked to these types of motor vehicle accidents.
