Injury from motor vehicle accidents may involve stalled vehicles

A man recently suffered injuries in a Kentucky motor vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer. The accident, which occurred on a Saturday morning, trapped the man inside his motor vehicle. These types of motor vehicle accidents can easily happen due to a driver's carelessness, in which case the driver who caused the accident may he held liable for any injuries resulting from the crash.

The accident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on a bridge after the engine of the car that the man was driving suddenly died. At that time, his car reportedly lost power. Police said a tractor-trailer then hit the stalled car.

According to authorities, the loaded truck's rear axles ended up trapping the man inside his car. In addition, the accident's impact caused the car to spin around. The truck then dragged the car about 100 yards along the bridge's concrete barrier. Two wreckers were used to remove the car from beneath the tractor-trailer within one hour. The car driver was then taken to the hospital for the treatment of his injuries, but authorities said he was expected to recover from the incident.

A police investigation may reveal that the tractor-trailer driver's carelessness caused the accident. For instance, perhaps the tractor-trailer driver was driving too quickly for road conditions. In this situation, the car driver may decide to file a personal injury claim against the driver of the tractor-trailer as well as his or her employer, seeking damages. A case that is litigated successfully, based upon a showing of negligence, may result in a judicial award of financial damages. This monetary award may help with covering hospital bills and other losses tied to these types of motor vehicle accidents in Kentucky.
